August Favorites

Hair Care, Skin Care, & Makeup

Tresemme Shampoo & Conditioner
I usually wash my hair once a week and I'm always looking for shampoo and conditioner combos that give my hair a deep clean. This Tresemme duo has been a game changer for me I love the way the products smell and how they make my hair feel.

NYX Doll Eye Mascara
When I used this mascara for the first time I had high hopes, but after using it a couple times I hated that it clumped up my lashes. I realized that for my short stubby lashes this mascara would be best used as a secondary mascara. To make this work I first use the Mary Kay lash love mascara to give my lashes length and separation, then I use the NYX mascara to add tones of volume. This mascara does a great job of giving you that false lash look.

I've been loving sheet mask lately, this month I tried the Garnier moisture bomb sheet mask. For such an inexpensive mask this sure packs a punch. The mask left my skin feeling smooth and hydrated. Its great to use when your skin is feeling really dry and dull.

Elf Cosmetics Lip Laquer
While this lipgloss won't leave your lips super hydrated this Elf lip laquer is great for adding a some shine to your lips. I like to use it on top of a tinted lip balm or a lip stain.

Design Essentials Peppermint & Aloe Scalp Tonic
I was looking for a non-oily but moisturizing product that I could put on my scalp under my extensions to help relieve itchiness and maintain the health of my hair. The design essentials tonic contains peppermint and aloe that helps soothe my scalp, I love the tingly sensation it gives. This has been a definite game changer in my hair care routine.

Elf Cosmetics Tinted Lip Balm Berry Sweet | Smoothy Spice
For the past couple of months I've been obsessed with Elf lip products. You can't beat the Elf price point, so it makes easy to take the plunge and buy their products. I gave these tinted balms a try and was happily impressed. The balms add a little color to my lips while also giving some moisture.

Movies and Music
Gigi
Gigi is a 1958 musical-romance starring Leslie Caron, Maurice Chevalier, and Louis Jourdan. Gigi takes place in the turn of the century Paris where a rich Playboy and a young coming of age girl enjoy a platonic relationship but as she grows older they both begin to fall in love with each other. Maurice Chevalier who plays Gaston the super handsome Parisian boyfriend I wish I had. Leslie Caron plays the title character Gigi, Caron who in real life was much older than the character she portrayed did an amazing job playing this joyful and stubborn Gigi. Louis Jourdan does an amazing job playing Henri, the Parisian uncle that I have always wanted. I loved Gigi's attitude through out the movie, she knew who she was as a person and tried her best to never waiver from it. The ending of this movie will have you cheering for joy and the soundtrack will be stuck in your head for days.

Tophat is a 1935 comedy-musical starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Astaire plays an American dancer, named Jerry Travers, who instantly falls in love with Ginger Rogers character Dale Tremont. Through out the movie Astaire attempts in so many ways to win over Rogers affection. I loved this movie so much, Astaire and Rogers had incredible chemistry in every scene they had together. After watching this movie I really want a Tophat themed wedding ☺️.

Released in 1942 Yankee Doodle Dandy is a biographical musical about the life of the great American playwright George M Cohen. James Cagney stars as Cohen who is invited to the White House to receive a Congressional Honor from President Roosevelt. The movie chronicles Cohen's life from his childhood where his family travelled across America performing vaudeville acts. The movie moves on to his days struggling to get his plays produced. After much work and connecting to the right people Cohen became a uber successful actor, director, producer, and writer.
